Giovanni dall’Agocchie – Footwork

In dall’Agocchie’s system there is a default set of movements that need to be internalized. In the heat of battle, when there is no time to think, this is what you fall back on.

Right Foot Forward

If you wish to perform a dui tempi action, perform the parry with a gathering step of the left foot. Then step with the right as you attack.

If performing a single time action that parries and wounds at the same time, move the right foot first and allow the rear foot to follow.

Left Foot Forward

Almost always the right foot will accompany both the parry and the attack, the left foot following.

Turning he Body

No matter which foot is forward, turn your body away from the parried blade. In this fashion you defend yourself with both blade and distance.
